What's It Like?
For some time I had a personal goal of giving something back. I was aware of Rotary but did not really understand what it was all about. A chance meeting with a Rotarian and an invitation to attend a club meeting began my discovery. I found that the emphasis Rotary has on drawing it's membership from the business community suited me well.
I attended several club meetings at different clubs before being invited along to the Karori club. I had identified the club as being a better fit personally as I am resident in Karori and the evening club meeting format appealed to me. I attending my first meeting at Karori and immediately found I was enjoying myself! The opportunity to relax and socialise over a drink after work prior to dinner was great.
Since joining the Karori Rotary Club I have discovered the community projects the club has delivered and been amazed and proud of the achievements. I have also learnt that Rotary is a complex global organisation presenting me with many opportunities to get involved in exciting and challenging projects.
What's it like? For me it is social, fun, thought provoking, rewarding and challenging!
